Siling Trips: Relevant information
Associació Cetàcea is a non-profit organisation that doesn’t receive grants from the Government, and thus our activities are financed by donations from people just like you, which help us to carry out our activities.
Become a volunteer of the Photo-identification project:
One of the ways in which you can contribute to finance our activities is by becoming a volunteer in our photo-identification project and join us in one of our cetacean sighting surveys in the study area.
With a €50 contribution from each volunteer, we can afford the rent of the sailing vessel.
By becoming a volunteer, you will be able to deepen your knowledge on the species of cetaceans that inhabit the Catalan coast and you will get a first-hand experience of our work. If you wish, you also will be able to contribute to our project by donating the dorsal fin photos taken during the sail trip, which will be added to our photo-identification catalogues.
To register as a volunteer, please contact us on info∂associaciocetacea.org and we will send you more information.
You can make your donation via bank transfer to our bank account, IBAN: ES03 1491 0001 2820 6817 5120. Once you’ve done your donation, please send us proof of payment to info∂associaciocetacea.org.
What can you expect from our Sailing Trips?
At the beginning of each sailing trip, members of Cetàcea will be a safety talk on the vessel, and they will explain the aims of the project and the marine species that we can see in the area.
The aim of these sailing trips is to find cetaceans and take photographs of their dorsal fins, which will be added to our photo-identification catalogues.
Both the sailing trips and the catalogues, help us to get a better knowledge of the different cetacean communities living in the Catalan coast, which are surprisingly unknown by most people. Our final aim is to promote the conservation of these species and the ecosystem they inhabit. Only by knowing that the coastal waters are full of life will we realise how important it is to promote and achieve its conservation.
