Cetacean Observation and Fotoidentification Course
DESCRIPTION
The Associació Cetàcea, in collaboration with the Consorci dels colls i Miralpeix, presents the Cetacean Observation and Fotoidentification Course, which is aimed at all those people interested in expand their knowledge on the cetaceans that inhabit the Catalan coast. During the three day course, you will get the chance to know in depth the different species that live in the Mediterranean Sea and which are the methods used in the research projects focussed on them. The course also includes information about other marine species such as sea turtles, seabirds, and about the main problems and threats affecting the conservation of these species.
TARGET AUDIENCE
The course is aimed at all those people that love marine animals and that want to deepen their knowledge of the megafauna of the Mediterranean Sea, regardless of their level of education. It is specially recommended for students, undergraduates, users of the sea and all those people that are interested on cetaceans and other marine species.
PLACES
The course is limited to 8 attendants and the registration will be closed when this number of attendants is reached.
PRICE
The cost of the course is 120 € and the price of the course includes the theoretical classes of the course and the material used during those classes. It also includes the practical observation survey in the sea and some drinks during the survey. Transportation expenses to and from the places where the different training activities will take place is not included.
PROGRAMM
The course is divided in a 12 hours theoretical section, that will be conducted during the first two days, and a 8 hours practical section, in which all the theoretical knowledge acquired will be applied in a cetacean sighting survey. The course is divided in the following modules:

- Navegation with cetaceans
- Observation and research methods
- Fotoidentification of cetaceans

- Explanation of the protocol of the sighting survey
- Sighting survey
NEXT EDITION
The next edition of the course will take place in june 27, 28 and 29.
